Default 2004 5.7 what exhaust to get?

I have a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 with a 5.7, and im not sure what exhaust to get. I was hoping you guys could give me opinions, facts, whatever. I want either the flowmaster super 40 or hooker aero. The sound im looking for is a deep rumble, but not too loud and no popping or crackling. And i also have no idea how i should set up my pipes. right now my muffler comes back and stops a little before the back tires and has a few inch drop down. (and sorry if im doing this wrong, im new to this site) I have no experience with exhaust systems-_-

Welcome to the forum!

There are a lot of exhaust choices out there. I can't pick a sound for you (what sounds good to you may not sound good to me) but there are a LOT of clips here in the exhaust section to view and listen to. The exhaust manufacturer's have clips on their websites as well.

As far as configuration, I have an '07 Hemi MegaCab and went with a Magnaflow 18" muffler, single in/dual out. I like the Magnaflow sound. Nice and deep, not intrusive in the cab, definitely heard when you get on it.

Good luck with your choices! This is a tough one to make as there are soooo many different ways to do this.

I love my Magnaflow too. Also like the Cherry Bomb Vortex sound and AeroTurbine 3030XL sound on Rams

Timbo114, your truck sounds great. And I was wondering if you could explain how your exhaust system is setup? Right now my muffler stops before the back passenger side tire and has a piece of pipe on the end of the muffler thats just a few inches long. Would it sound good if I just replaced it and used the same setup? My muffler sounds good but for some reason something inside it rattles so im replacing it.

This is single exhaust.
I just cut out the original muffler.

Stock set up -(after cats) 2, 2.5" pipes into a 3" pipe into Hooker - 3" pipe out to OEM tail pipe with resonator intact.
My resonator can (see green arrow) is behind the axle and I have a massive mirror polished, double wall, rolled edge chrome tip.

I left the res can on to see how it sounded with Hooker - I love it - so it stays.
NO drone in the cab - I couldn't have asked for a more pleasing roar from a single exhaust set up.
