Default Heater/AC Vent problems

Hi, I'm new to this and I'm glad I found it. I need some help. First, about the truck. Its a 2002 Ram 1500. Automatic 4x4, though never in 4 wheel drive, V-8, a plain jane truck. It has only 52K miles. Here's my problem. Chipmunks are getting up in the vents. Last week, I went to turn on the fan/motor and all kinds of acorn pieces, weeds, very small twigs and so on flew out of the vents. The fan was barely turning so I shut it off and pulled it out. It was loaded with this stuff. I cleaned it out, put it back together and it worked fine for about 30 seconds and boom, more was coming out of the vents. I again dropped the fan and vacuumed the inside, but it didn't seem to work. More was in the vents.

My primary question is where are the chipmunks getting in and how do I keep them from making my vents their home?

Great question and I'd check around the upper vents to see if there are issues there. My son's Neon has some issues but the problem is where he parks and not necessarily from the squirrels we have in the yard.
