Default Ram Express line is extended

The 2012 Ram express can now be had in regular, quad, and crew cabs. I was personally waiting for this because it seems like people would want a nice looking truck for a low price. What does everybody else think about this?

Hmm its good I guess. I relay didn't want to see a bunch of stripped down crew cabs on the road. I wonder how much a cc express weights compared to a loaded cc Laramie or longhorn?

There's always gonna be stripped down crew cabs cause of the st trim level but I think this is sort of adding to it. Like here there's about 10 regular cab express in the short time they've been out and they all look so similar to the 4 or 5 R/T in the area for all R/T model years. Weight for 2wd is 5167 express, 5350 laramie, 5527 laramie longhorn. And for 4wd is 5342 express, 5522 laramie, 5654 laramie longhorn

For other comparison the regular cab express 2wd is 4707 while the R/T is 4788 so the express doesn't really have a weight advantage over the R/T

I fell the same about this. The express is a very good/sporty looking inexpensive truck. It's perfect for those who want a strong vehicle that looks good, but don't care about the "luxury" stuff. I fall into that category, my dream ram would be a 2 door express, with basically no extra options other than LSD and 3.92 gears, and the EVIC would be nice to have.

I did not know the express was slightly lighter, that's kind of cool. The also have smaller/lighter wheels/tires I believe don't they? I think an express gives the RT a good run especially for the money. I brought this up in an other thread, but I think if you just want a nice looking, fast truck, the express is the way to go, and if you want a fast, cool looking truck with all the bells and whistles, and the cool factor with the RT badging, then the RT is for you. If you bought an express and spend the difference in money between it and the RT on performance mods you'd have an extremely fast truck. My brother has a 2011 express, with 3.55(and pretty much with every option you can get) and my good friend has a 2011 RT, and they run nearly neck and neck, the RT has about a few tenths of a second on the express.

They can keep their 20's with low profile tires. Real 4wd trucks shouldn't have low profile tires!

You guys can have them all until they come out with the 66RFE or eight speed for the 1500's. Till then, mine will do just fine and it's paid for. edit: When and if they do come out with the better trans, I hope by then they'll also have some different choices of color for the interior. Seeing the same color interior in every Ram truck you look at is getting kind of old.

The R/T 22s are actually lighter than the chrome clad 20s, but not sure how they compare to the 20s on the express though. And I think the R/T would have the edge with the torque converter and 4.10 gears. I'm waiting for a stock express to hit 13s to see how close they are to the R/T

Pretty sure 33" tires aren't low profile. They're bigger than the wrangler rubicon tires which are only 32"

I'm pretty sure I saw someone with an express with 3.92 that was in the 13's...

I assume the express wheels are lighter as they are smaller and both are aluminum. The RT definitely has the edge with the convert and gears, but the gearing is close, and if you put a good aftermarket converter in the express I bet it'd be faster. If not then it would be about the same. I've watched my buddies RT and my brothers express side by side and they are pretty dang close, the RT does have the edge stock, as it should.

I'd really like to wait until the 8 speed comes out, then get an expres with hemi and 8 speed in a quad cab

Dam, I wish I would have waited. I would love to get a black express QCSB with black SRT-10 wheels. It would look sick and be about the same price as I paid for my R/T.
