I was on the Ram website looking at the new 2012 "build your own" section, and there is no option for a Rambox on the 2012 1500 Express... too bad.

I read the article on news.pickups.com about the transmission, and they are touting that the trans is basically the same, but you can access all the gears via at ERS mode....SO....No change!?!? We already have the ERS mode and access to all the gears exactly like they described it. Is this article a reprint from 2008?

In the ERS mode we don't have access to the 6th gears (.67:1). 5 on the dash is the 5th gears (.75:1) or 4th when in D mode.

ERS and Tow/Haul mode use the same gears.
1- 3.00:1
2- 1.67:1
2 prime- 1.50:1
3- 1.00:1
4- .75:1

They use 5 gears on the 6 gears we have. The 2012 will use all 6 when in ERS but in D will be exactly like ours.

1-3.00:1
2-1.67:1
2 prime- 1.50:1

5- .67:1

So your saying ERS mode will display '6'?
Currently, it goes to '5' which is OD1 (AKA 4th), then the next up-shift puts you in drive giving you the 6th gear (OD2 - AKA 5th).

If that is only change.....Why?? Maybe I'm missing something here, but I don't see any change/benefit over what we have, other than the potential displaying of the number '6' in the EVIC.

You will be able to shut off the MDS in 6. I sure would love that, haha.

But yes, the only benefit will be the number 6 on the evic and the posibility the shut off the MDS in 6th.

MDS off in OD2/5th/6th/.67 IS a benefit! Won't need a programmer that doesn't exist to do it.

I hope Dodge will offer a PCM flash for 2009-2011 truck to take advantage of the ''new'' 6 speeds.

I know i would LOVE to shut off the MDS in all gears. I hate that thing. It doesn't help gaz millage at all.

And I can confirm that now. I programmed the MDS off with my DSP, and actually have gotten better mileage. And I tend to drive a bit more aggressively....just love the feel of the extra power and response... go figure!

And wasnt the 54RFE just the 45RFE w/ a program I know on 3rd gen Dakotas all you needed was a TCM outta a zj or wk (I forget) and then you now had the5sp instead of the 4
