Crewcab only come with the 5'7'' box, but R/T are singlecab short box only.

Reliable source MooseEater wrote that Ram will be launching its exclusive RamBox integrated storage system “for a special price” on both 5’7″ and 6’4″ beds, on 2012 regular and quad cab models. A new steering wheel will also be adopted, putting the cruise control onto the front, and a monochrome paint option will be added to Outdoorsman and Longhorn (on the latter, replacing White Gold running boards with Mopar tubular side steps and polished wheels). A Longhorn Two-Tone will still be available.

Ram will also gain new power folding trailer towing mirrors and chrome side mouldings. The ST, however, loses its bright grille, reverting to black. (Some of these features, including the RamBox and mirrors, are set up for late availability.)

I thought the 2012 model would offer the pentastar v6 with 8 speed transmission.. or is it they are working on it in 2012 for the 2013 model? Online Build your own 2012 is not offering the pentastar v6.

Also, anybody know if a Crew cab v6 pentaStar will be offered and with an option for a Ram box?

What second life said is correct from what I understand ^

The "new" 65rfe is the same as the 545rfe but reprogrammed to make use of the 2nd prime gear in normal shifting.

I wonder if the 66rfe will bolt in place in my truck? I'm sure it will bolt up....but what about programming and running correctly? I'd love to have that gear set behind my engine...

Yes, so basically the 45rfe, 545rfe, and 65rfe are all the same transmission, with different programming to give either a 4, 5, or 6 speed transmission. Then like said the 66rfe is the same transmission with a different gear set(borrowed from the 68rfe of the 2500's).

Lol, I've been telling everyone this since news of the new trans coming out. The 66rfe is a 68rfe housed in a 545rfe case. So yes, it has the same bolt patern because it's the same 545rfe case. And btw, they are now listed in Chryslers parts department computers and sell for $4300 converter included if you want one. I don't know about the programing yet but I'm working on that with my dealer as we speak...I'm still waiting on answers.

Yeah I've seen it a bunch spread throughout the forum....I've just recently grasped the naming/numbering of the different transmissions and and what they all are lol. Kind of confusing since they all overlap somewhat. I would love to know if one can be made to work in my truck, the taller higher first gear would help me launch, and I could put 4.56 in with the lower OD and still get good hwy mpg. Not to mention the tighter ratios all together! I would be willing to pay for the trans if I knew I could get it to work....

Is the new 8 speed the same casing as well?
