Default '07 Dodge Ram brakes chattering

I just bought an '07 Dodge quad cab. I have a chattering coming from the front brakes everytime I hit a bump. If I apply the brake while going over the bumps the chattering is gone.As soon as you let off the pedal it starts chattering again. Any ideas as to what this is? I'm thinking anti rattle springs but I'm not sure. I want to make sure this is fixed right the first time cause the dealer I bought the truck from is about useless so I have to have another shop fix it or do it myself. Thank you

Sounds like you have the ESP package on your truck...Does the brakes pulsate when on a hill and you let off the brakes??? Turn sharp and hit the brakes a little...then do the same and hit the gas a little. You should feel a pulsation in the brakes......everything is NORMAL so do not sweat it (That is if you have the Electronic Stability Package ESP)..............

Thanks for thr reply.
No the brakes are nice and smooth. There is no pulsing of any kind. It wasn't making any noise at all at least that I heard when I left the dealer last Friday. We have some pretty rough roads around here and by the time I got home it was doing it.

Well I got a chance to look at my brake problem. I found out that someone turned the rotor to small and instead of replacing it put it back on the truck. I got a new rotor and put it on and no more chatter. You would be amazed the difference in thickness of the 2. I should have taken a pic of them together. People are crazy I tell ya.

I think that may be the reason the dealer told me to take it somewhere else to get it inspected and they would reimburse me for the cost. They knew it needed it and they didn't want to pay for it.Wouldn't surprise me one bit.

Dang it it is starting to do it again! Has anyone here ever changed the brake pads on a newer Dodge quad cab before? Is there anything besides the pads that go one there? Like anti rattle clips? All I have are the pads with little metal plates on the back of them. I know there are usually some kind of clips that go on the pads.At least the ones I've changed had them. This is really getting me pi$%ed off. I can't stand that noise. It makes the truck sound like a POS.

Wow! There are over 3900 members on this forum and not 1 has ever changed the front pads on a Ram before. That is crazy! J/K

Anyways I did some looking around and on Autozone's website they show 8 clips that come along with their brake pads. They look like this.
The untrained monkey that did the pad replacement on my truck before I bought it decided that it didn't need these clips and left them off of it. Can someone tell me how they go on? I'm going to get some from NAPA and put them on since my pads are like new I'm not spending $60 to change them when they don't need to be. Thanks for any help.

Should have to disassemble and remove pads . Anti rattle clips take up the clearance between the pad holder and the pads themselves . Can't find any phiotos that show you how they go .
