Default Tires...Tires...Tires...

No, it isnt time yet...but...

I have Firestone Destination A/T's on there right now (17's) and I am thinking maybe since my truck is a pavement princess, I can get a highway tire that will last longer. The destinations have about 15k on them and to be honest, they look fine, but I cant help but wonder if there is a quieter tire out there. As far as A/T's go, this seems to be one of the quietest, most comfortable I have ever seen, but I dont think I will get 50k out of them.

Is it unreasonable to expect 50-70k out of an A/T tire? I am so used to my Civic, I had Goodyear Assurance Comfortreads on it, and they lasted 88k!

If I remember correctly, Nitto makes the Dura-Grappler which is a highway A/T (I think). They should be guaranteed till 50K

Looks like 45K or 60K depending on which tire.

40-50 is reasonable but good luck. procomps at has a 50k warranty, you could try those. personally i think hwy tires suck, yeah they are quiet but they lack traction on anything other than dry roads. i don't like them in the snow at all. on my last 1500 i didn't get much more than 30k out of a set of tires. i tried goodyears, generals, conti's. the goodyears are the worst, got about 25k out of them, which really sucks when you drive like 30-35k a year.

Guys, I hate to say it, but it looks like either the Nitto Terra Grappler or the Firestone Destination will have to be my next tire, the reviews on TireRack and Discount Tire Direct are better than any other tire on their sites.

I did look at a few "highway" tires, but all the reviews said they suck in anything but dry weather...so, A/T it is. The 4th gen rams have a good but of sound insulation so the noise doesnt really bother me much.

Just my 2cents but my bro had a set of General Grabber HTS on his ford f-250. They lasted well over 60K and he did a lot of trailering with them. I saw them a couple of times perform decently in the mud for a Highway tire. What I liked about them the most though was that they are a LRR tire and they actually increased his mileage. Check out the ratings on Tirerack for them. They are pretty good and they will probably be my next tire to get rid of these crappy goodyears.

i had those on my titan, lasted 30k and were useless in snow or anything else once they go low. how in thw world did your bro get that tire to last 60k on a truck that weighs more than my 1500 did? i rotated them every 3k and it still didn't matter. he must have run those straight to the belts. my buddys father has them on his avalanche and his are almost shot at 30k as well.

No they weren't thread hard that bad. When he dumped them I saw they were at the.wear markers. I witnessed it myself or I wouldn't have mentioned it. Are you sure they were jot the general ameritrac highway bwecause those come with a lot of trucks stock and yes you are lucky to even get 30k out of them. He even towed a 20' box trailer often with.them.
