I know Iowa has a law against the railroading you into doing your service at a dealer for warranty. Not sure how other states fair. I just had a motor replaced by GM and there was NOT a single question about the service history, I had changed it every time myself.

you can service your own vehicles, keep all receipts, & a log with dates, mileage, etc

I either have the dealership or an A.S.E. certified shop do mine, if there is ever an issue, an ASE certified shop & Dodge will take care of it
try getting Dodge & Jiffy Lube or Walmart to work together to settle any dispute
Jiffy Lube has so many lawsuits against them now, they will be bankrupt soon, wrong oil, not changing filters, no oil engine seizures, fraudulent repairs, etc.

I've used a blend for the past two trucks and never had an issue. I try to stick with name brand like casterol and Mobile 1. NAPA filters too!

Just had Mr. Lube change me over to Mobil 1 5W20 synthetic today. Brought my own Mobil 1 oil filter since Mr. Lube only stocks no-name or Mopar brand. They added 6.6L (1.75 Gallons) of oil but the dipstick never showed full!

Any thoughts as to why?

Thanks,

Loth

I used it in my 01 Ram 1500 and on the first change noticed a difference in performance and the engine ran smoother to the point I could hear the difference.

After my free changes from the dealer I'm going to switch over to RP.

I have always used castrol or valvoline 5w 20, never had any issues, but now in 2011 ram im gonna try a full synthetic. Any improvement in performance and mileage would be welcomed to justify the cost. Im on my third oil change at 6000 miles, I prefer to do a couple changes early in the beginning.

Default Oil

Very wise mrroader14. I drained the mopar oil after 500 miles,,put in valvoline 5w20 synthetic for 500 and then put in Redline 5w 20 full synthetic with a filter change each time. Unless you are operating under extreme conditions you can go the full 8k miles on an oil change with redline. Amsoil would be another choice, but you can go on line and read about both. Some info http://www.waynesgarage.com/docs/synthetic_oils.htm

Doing M1 full synthetic this weekend. Lots of sales on M1 with Father's Day. I've used M1 in everything for a Long time. M1 5w-20 in my Sportibikes too. Over 50K miles between my zx12 and the zx14....High Reving brutal abuse, top speed and dragracing and the M1 has never balked. If M1 car oil can withstand the abuse I've given it in my bikes...the truck should be just fine.

I just use whatever the dealer puts in. No point in doing it myself when the dealership will do it cheaper
