Default Tuner differences??

Just bought a 2011 ram with a 5.7. I've owned a gm vehicle for the last 4 years and been using hptuners to tune with for the last couple years so I'm somewhat familiar with late model ecm tuning. Trying to figure out what the best way to go on the dodge now. What's the difference in DS predator, trinity, and the cmr. Obviously the cmr is the software used by real tuners so it's probably more than I'm looking for but can anyone give me some insight on the predator and trinity? Also any thoughts on sct? I'd like something that I can possibly load tunes sent remotely from a tuner elsewhere in the country seeing how there's not a decent tuner anywhere around where I live.

Hi and a warm Carolina welcome to the best RAM ForumZ on the web. How about posting a few photos of your truck? I don't have a lot of experience with tuners - yet, plan on getting a DS Predator as I don't need all the bells and whistles the Trinity provide at a significant cost difference.

Oh, and while you are waiting for others to chime in, how about using the link in my SIG to jump over to our Newbie Checkin and introducing yourself to the rest of the gang?

The big difference between the Predator and the Trinity is that although they both do pretty much the same thing, the Trinity stays plugged in and gives you real time feedback on your system and the Predator only plugs in when you are uploading a tune or data logging but gets unplugged when you are done and ready to drive your truck. Some people like that but most feel it's not worth double the price of the Predator.

Can you get a tuner to send you a file and save it to the predator or trinity and then upload to vehicle? With hptuners I could send tunes back and forth to my tuner. Is this possible with the predator or trinity? Thanks.

Yes, go to the Diablosport website and get in touch with Johan,
He can email you a custom CMR tune designed for your Ram and the mods you have.

Absolutely free of charge.

No other Tuner company offers that kind of support/service currently for 4G Ram Hemi's
Superchips (Cortex or Flashpaq) and the Bully Dog GT Triple Dog are your only other choices for 09'-10' Hemi Rams,
both come up short on support, and performance and yes, I've tried them ALL!

I think Edge may have a tuner out now for 09'-10' 4G's but not 100% sure.
There's no SCT or HPTuners for 4G Hemi's that I know of.

Diablo (Predator/Trinity) is THEE choice and only option for those with custom cam/heads/header performance mods

If you really want it done right and are willing to pay for it,
there's nothing better than finding a local Diablo CMR tuner that can strap you to a Dyno and custom tune it to perfection. (Then save the tune to your Trinity/Predator)
I bought my Trinity from a local Diablo dealer/CMR and will be going in for a Cam and Custom Dyno Tune soon...not free for that though

For the record, the Trinity doesn't actually have to stay in your vehicle after you load a tune,
I really only need the extra monitoring gauges at the track on weekends. To me the capability of real time data logging on site with a Lap Top is the Bomb!

Before you get too excited though, you should know NO tuner companies have tuning options for the 2011 Rams yet, sorry.

As he ^^^^ said, there is nothing out for the 2011's but I expect this is month we'll hear something from DiabloSport.

I have used SC, HyperTech and DiabloSport tuners on various vehicles. They SC and HyperTech's did the job, however, there was not updating available, the canned tune was the canned tune and no one really did much in the way of tuning.

That has all changed, of course.

However, while I haven't tried the other tunes on my two HEMI powered vehicles, I don't feel as though I need to. The results I have experienced please me to no end.

I have a CMR tune stacked on top of the DS Predator 91 Octane CAI tune. Luckily, I have a DS authorized dealer and tuner in my area. I have done email tunes with Bob @ SVS as well. Once I figured out the step process to download, save and load a custom tune, it was easy to do. My point here is that the DiabloSport tuners really provided a great bang for the buck. My SRT started with 352 RWHP stock, 378 RWHP with the 91 tune and when I got the CMR tune, it jumped to 411 RWHP. I'm more than happy with that.

To see some real world results of a 91 tune on a Ram HEMI, click on my "Ram Mods" link below and scroll to page 2 for the dyno runes, before and after the 91 tune install.

Thanks for the input. I'm starting to see how the ds stuff works together. I've pretty much decided who I'm going to use as soon as 2011 becomes available. Just trying to learn all I can about the trinity and predator so I don't buy one and wish I had the capability of the other. I like all the scanning ability that I can get and I want to be able to get help remotely from elsewhere in the country from real tuners since there's not much to choose from in my area. I've been used to using hptuners scan software so I'm wanting to see everything possible. I only wanna do this once unlike my last modding adventure..

Go to the Forums on Diablosport.com (under the "Support" tab) and register, if you haven't already.

Then shoot a pm to johan, mikel or kmac1.

I still think a visit to a local CMR is the way to go...
