Unhappy Help with Changing Temp sensor?

Hey,
I have a 2001 Dodge RAM 1500 with the 5.9L V8 sport package. I recently had to change my water pump and thermostat. After properly running and reading the proper temperature for a few days, the truck started reading a high temp for a few seconds at start-up then return to norm. Now, the truck automatically reads 280 degrees at start-up, even if it is 30 degrees out. I am assuming that the temperature sensor has gone bad and wanted your opinions. Is this right? And if so, does any have a Haynes manual to look upload images of the location of the sensor and how to replace it?
Thanks for the help
Mitchell

Default

the ECT sensor is behind your alternator, kinda smaller sensor with a 2 wire conector.. its removable without removing the alt, BUT! removing the alt does make it alot! easier...
