I did my front Rams head with the plasti-dip, and I have been blinded by that chrome ring one to many times, I have been meaning to dip it as well.

Like mentioned just prep with alcohol and let it dry, this stuff will actually peel of and leave the part unharmed.

You could brush it on, but it doesn't work too well like that. Plasti dip can be found at ACE Hardware and Home Depot for like $6. ( I got mine from ACE cause Home Depot was all out.) It comes in a spray can and a "dipping tube" thing for dipping tools in. Purchase the spray can. Prep is easy. Just clean of the surface and mask everything off. Then spray at a reasonable distance. It doesn't drip too much. Do a couple of coats and it should be fine. Plasti dip can come in a variety of colors but I used flat black. I plasti dipped my chrome grill on my sport and the results were amazing. Now the top grill matches the bottom. Here are some pics. I am a painting rookie and I did a great job with ease. It has been a couple of weeks now and I have been driving on the highway and in extreme Georgia heat. The plasti dip has held up very well. Also, if you make a mistake (say you got it on the car paint) it will come off with rubbing alcohol or nail polish remover. Overall Plasti Dip is a great invention and you cant really go wrong with it! I am thinking of doing my emblems and even my wheels with it. Hope this helps!! Best of luck!

Your may be right. Perhaps I would need to spend the time to actually paint them. I went to NAPA and they had all kinds of specific wheel paint. If not that, then it looks like I am saving up for real wheels

+1 for you!

I did mine today and I couldn't be happier with the result.

After the first coat I notice a few small bumps on my bezel, just gently scratched them off with my fingernail (after it dried of course) and shot it again.

3 coats in all and it looks like it was pooped out by an angel.

Thanks for the tip!

I started mine with a putty knife as it was pretty tight. There are several holding points under the lip and each are notched with several grooves to hold it in place. A little pressure at each point working around the bezel will release it without worry.

I found 2 coats was plenty after it was cleaned. The first coat had a lot of "orange peel" effect, but the second coat filled in nice and smooth.

I'd like to paint the "chrome" sides of my center console around the radio. Do not like the mix of the black, tan and chrome interior! If I could make it black n' tan it would be nice!
It is an SLT package with some fake chrome arround the vents as well and the center console.

Finally, Is this stuff durable when it comes to heat/cold? Up here in Michigan we get 100 deg summers and then sub zero winter.

P.S. I just picked up an upgrade OEM touch screen myGig system, so I guess I could take care of the plastidip while I'm installing the head unit.

Thanks...
