I've read that there is a surge around 40 mph in the transmission. Is this surge when the transmission downshifts from 5th to 4th? mine does it around 46mph. will the transmission upgrade fix this?

I had mine done and fixed the exact problem that you are experiencing, take a copy of the TSB with you, some shops are not too savvy. Mine asked why are we doing this again? I said because it is doing EXACTLY what is listed in the TSB.
