Hey Guys,

I read on another thread that there is an issue with the rear O2 sensors throwing a check engine code and disrupting MDS. This is the last freakin' thing that I need, and I'm not going down that road again.

I just ordered mine and have not installed them yet. Please let me know if this issue still exists for the 2011 5.7's. I'd appreciate any and all feedback!

That was me with the problem in thread mentioned. My problem was not connected to the headers at all. It was actually a faulty wiring extension for my front passenger side O2 which caused all sorts of fun until I traced the problem down. I got a replacement wiring extension and that solved it. I used O2 entensions on my rear O2 sensors to get them out of the exhaust gases and avoid rear O2 sensor codes. I still get them from time to time. Your MDS will work with that code, and I just unplug the battery to clear the code out. If you have any questions let me know...

I talked to the guy who will probably do the install, and he told me that since the cats have been moved back, it creates a bit of an issue. He says it may not be a problem, but he claims to have the fix if an issue crops up. The headers were shipped today, so we'll know soon!

other people are getting codes too. plus ARH recommends getting a tune to fix your a/f ratio.

No tune for the 11's yet. You WILL get codes. That is a given. It's not due to the placement of the cats, because of the rear O2 sensors are still behind the cats, but rather due to how free flowing your exhaust is. The rear O2 will read your exhaust gases and assume that your cats are not working properly and trip the code. The easiest way around it is using a tuner to disable that code. Since thats not an option for us yet you have to get creative. You can use a spark plug deflowler. I'm not sure how to do this but I'm sure you can find plenty of info on this thru a google search. It's probably the cheapest alternative. There are O2 simulators out there that plug in where the normal O2 would go, but the truck computer may not like their wiring and trip a code anyway. The way I went was O2 sensor extensions. They go between the pipe and the O2 and serve to pull the O2 sensors out of the direct path of the exhaust gases. I used the normal extensions and it got really really tight on the passenger side. I suggest the right angle ones I put the link to in my earlier reply. Good luck.

you have to get a CMR to turn off your rear O2s

Hey Guys,

Thanks for all the info. Will these trucks pass inspection? I had ARH Headers on my old Silverado and it was a B*TCH to get it inspected!

I don't know. We don't have inspections in Ok anymore. I would think as long as it was a visual inspection they will.

What hp gains are you expecting with the headers? Once you install I would love to hear about the before/after power gains and driving impression. Last truck I put headers on was a 1999 Z-71 and it woke the truck up like crazy.

I looked into the Hennessey kits but for $7,000 for 425hp and $13,000 for the 500 SC I quickly changed my mind.....$7,000 for bolt ons is ridiculous imo.
