I installed a K&N Cold Air intake (part #63-1561) yesterday, 6/26/11 on my 2010 Dodge Ram, 5.7L Hemi (YEA BABY!). It took me about 2 hours to do, mainly because although it had very good illustrated instructions, it referred to the nuts and bolts as enclosed parts, not by a part number and I had to change some bolts around after I got it together. K&N claims this Cold Air intake will add 15.66 HP and increase gas milage by 7-10%, we'll see. I drove my truck to work this morning and the first thing I noticed was that before I put the Intake on, my MPG reading was at 13.5, (I averaged 13.5-14.2 with 89 octane before) after I put it on, it jumped up to 15.7 MPG and by the time I got to work it had only gone down to 15.6 and my drive to work is all city. The second thing I noticed and this put a nice grin on my face is that it changed the sound of my exhaust tone quite a bit, to a low rumble, especially when I had to pass someone this morning. The 3rd thing I noticed is the lag seems to be gone, my truck always seemed to have a slight lag between the time I stepped on it until it actually kicked in, about a second, didn't notice it this morning. Of course I was so taken by the new sound coming from my exhaust I may not have noticed
I was seriously considering buying an aftermarket catback exhaust to get the sound I now have from the Cold Air Intake, don't think I will do that now. I found the Intake on K&N's website, but I actually bought it brand new off of Ebay for about $100 less with free shipping. So Ladies and Gentleman, if you want an fairly inexpensive upgrade that adds 15.66 HP, 7-10% increase in mileage and you want your exhaust to growl and you can do-it-yourself, I highly recommend this product. Any questions, please ask.
