Question Lift Kit Help

I'm wanting to put a lift kit on my 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 2x4 but I'm having issues locating a kit to run with. My mechanic (good friend of mine, ex-navy buddy, known for about 13 years) said that a suspension lift not only looks better but it also performs better and that I'd get more enjoyment out of it rather than going with a body lift. I'm looking for a 4 - 6 in lift for my truck; however, the only ones that I seem to find are for 4x4 trucks. Will a 4x4 suspension lift work on my 2x4 or not? Does any one know where to find a good 4 - 6 inch suspension lift kit for my truck that won't break the bank? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advanced.

Hi jbaidas81,
i got a 6" fabtech suspension lift kit for my 96 2wd. The only problem on my truck with the lift is the steering. my truck has independent front suspension and pitman and idler arm wear out fast, i am still working on a solution for that issue. Good Luck for your project!

im also looking for the same 4-6 inches of lift on my 2wd so ill tell you what im going to do to give you an option to think about. ebay has 3" lift spindles that replace your stock ones with no change in suspension geometry. on top of those im going to run a 2" spring spacer for a total of 5" up front, and then get blocks for the back. also, this way you can use your stock shocks for the time being if you dont want to shell out money for new ones. just keep in mind though if you do the spindles they require a 17" wheel for clearance.
