I take it your truck is a Quad-Cab?
This part number - 82211298 - is for a Quad Cab, not a Crew Cab (like I posted above)

This Hard Folding Tonneau Cover is lightweight and made with a durable aluminum frame. The structural foam panels are rust and corrosion resistant and features a patented four-panel design. Opening and stacking the hinged cover from the rear is a simple two-step process that takes just seconds. The front panel also opens for easy access to cargo stored in the front of the bed. Sturdy, flush-mount locks (front and rear) secures both tailgate and cover.
Black, Folding, Lockable, for Regular or Quad Cab 6.3' bed. Requires Installation Kit (installation kit 82211301 includes rail system, hardware and lock package)

Is this what you have (but you said 3 panel)?

Thx

PS....there is one in stock nearby, so this is of interest! :-)
Hiker Guy: If you would like, I can post some pictures of what the cover looks like installed, along with the locking mechanisms, etc.
Let me know!!

Dealer is selling your cover (for Quad) for CDN$970.00 plus installation. How much is it where you live? Just curious the difference in US and CDN pricing.

That's interesting. I'm 6' 0" and I have used the front access panel several times already. Although the box is quite tall, I am still able to reach in and retrieve items from the box. I have steps too but I do not use them if I need to put/retrieve something in/from the front of the box. I AM VERY, VERY CAREFUL NOT TO RUB UP AGAINST THE BED/PAINT. I have Black Pearlcoat, and the last thing I want to do is put a big 'ole nasty scratch in my paint. But you are right; it can be a pain.

One more thing, the Bakflip will fold up against the back of the cab, so I have nearly complete use of the bed without having to take anything off the truck and store it.
You are correct. THE OEM MOPAR cover WILL NOT fold up against the back window. You lose 1 panel of usable box space if you need to haul something with the panels in the open position.
That was one thing I did not like about the Bakflip cover; that you had to rest the panels up against the back window. The weight of the panels made a rub mark in the main rubber seals. It looked really bad. The problem was the panels were able to move (vibrate around) in the completely open position. Wear marks were inevitable. I got smart and put some foam on the edges of the panels (where ever contact was made on the rubber seals)

Yes, pics would be great, although we may should start a new thread.

Yes, my truck is a Quad, so it would be slightly different than your Crew Cab. Prices here in the USA on the Mopar site is $931 for the top, and $90 for the rail kit. Asked them if there was any chance of a discount, and they laughed. Haven't looked at other sites yet.

The BackFlip idea is good, but I have hesitated as I just didn't like the way it propped up against the window, the small support bars, and the reliance on the cables for latching it down.

A more secure locking cover would be my preference, and yes, I have a locking tailgate. I assume the Mopar version is as substantial (aluminum & foam) as the Backflip.

Thx

I believe the MOPAR cover is slightly thinner than the Bakflip. But I cannot compare now as I no longer own my GMC Canyon.
One thing to note about the OEM cover: To fold the panels towards the cab, you take the first panel and fold it onto the second panel. Panels (1) and 2 then scissor fold into panel 3.
Then panels 1, 2 and 3 (as one) fold onto panel 4 (panel closest to cab of truck).
The Bakflip simply folds each panel onto the next (like you are rolling carpet.)

Unfolding the OEM can be tedious as well.

I don't have a problem with this cover, but some people may find it a nuisance folding the panels together.

I use my truck to haul large items infrequently, but I do and with little notice. I like the bakflip that I can haul a motorcycle and the front wheel is able to contact the bedfront while leaving the cover on, the OEM wouldn't allow that.

I am not crazy about the idea of the folded cover up against the cab, but given all the alternatives it is the best one for me. I do think I could design a better Bakflip then they currently have, as there is room for improvement.

AH!!! I just noticed this on my F1 as well!

This is making my brain hurt, had to come here and see if I was the only one.

The grain on all the panels aligned perfectly on my last F1, unfortunately FedEx put a nice big dent in 1 of the panels (aluminum side) so Bak switched it out for me.

Now I have a dent free F1 but the grain on the panels doesnt match!!!

I think I'm gonna throw up.
