Talking MPG Surprise

So maybe it's not such a surprise but I just installed a flowmaster 40 last Friday and did my first fairly long drive with it today (125kms). To my surprise I have seen a significant increase in MPG. I only changed out the muffler. The best I could do on the same trip was 12.6 liters/100kms (multiple trips last Fall (before winter gas) and Winter trips as well). I just got back and my EVIC is showing 10.5 Liters/100kms. That's 26.9 MPG Imperial or 22.4 MPG US. Pics of my EVIC in US and Metric are attached. So it seems like the Flowmaster 40 is letting my HEMI breath a bit easier. So far I'm very happy with the results and it sounds awesome as well !!!!

I have the same muffler, its loud and there is drone, but sounds great it doesnt bother me at all! And sounds AMAZING outside the truck! I get compliments all the time. If you dont mind the extra noise, do it! But there's a lot of 40 series muffler u can use to make it quieter inside.

At highway speed it's is not bad at all, it's almost like stock no noticable drone while cruising at 100km/hr. At slower speeds when MDS kicks in there is some drone however not really bothersome. When pulling away from lights it's very different from stock. IMHO the amazing sound it gives off is well worth the additional cabin noise.

Thats great. I wonder what the increase would be with a less restrictive cat?

Good question, I imagine there is a limit to what you can do. An entire cat back system with programmer would probably be even better. I'm hoping that this better MPG continues and the computer dosen't set things up different to compensate for the reduced backflow. I like the mileage being a bit better considering the price of gas these days.
