Default CAI Do I need to Get a tuner to?

I was talking with someone here at work and told him I was looking at getting a CAI for the Ram. He asked me if I had a tuner yet, I told him no. He said you might need one before I put the CAI on to adjust to the new air flow. The computer needed to be adjust to handle the increase in air intake. Did anyone have to do this or have an issue after installing the CAI?

The tuner will help with performance, but your on board system will adjust for the extra airflow, so you don't need to adjust for airflow yourself.

And just the opposite question...Will I need a CAI if I get a tuner? I am sure it would help a great deal, just want to know if it is required.

FYI,lol. I have the MOPAR CAI on my RAM 5.7L and have had no problems. The OB computer adjusted to it. It does have a bit more power and the growl from under the hood is great. I have done some good test with it driving it kind of hard from time to time have noticed a bit better MPG. Maybe .5-1 mpg better. Not a lot, but that is driving it kind of hard, so.... Good luck hope this helped some.

Nope you don't need a tuner if you have a CAI.

Also I have a tuner and do not have a CAI and everything is perfectly fine.

You can get a tuner and no CAI

You can get a CAI and no Tuner

You can swap out your exhaust and still not need a tuner. Your car compensates for the changes because well it needs to. If it didn't you would be getting codes whenever the air pressure changed, temp changed, or you wanted to be cheap and keep your air filter super dirty.

If your getting a CAI, I would get an exhaust. The combination of the two is great. I'm still waiting on the Trinity so that I can add it to my setup.

No, you don't need a tuner for a CAI. The stock computer will adjust to the airflow change.

But...adding a CAI, a freer flowing exhaust and a tuner to your truck will really run a lot better.
