Default Add-ons

So far here are the add-ons to my truck.
1. Voltage Stabilizer from NRG
2. Airaid Throttle Body Spacer
3. Window Tint

The Voltage Stabilizer keeps me at 16.5 mpg driving daily
The Throttle body spacer helped me get 520 miles per tank going 80 from california to colorado
And i got my rear window tinted 5%, 35% on the driver and passanger window, also 5% windshield strip. so far truck is amazing . Going to the 4wheelparts truck&jeep fest in denver cant wait.

Those first two mods are generally considered placebo mods....

I have a 2009 Ram HEMI 1500 SLT Quad Cab with the 32 gallon tank
1,000 pounds extra weight is always in my Rams bed, i weigh 6,300 pounds all the time

I get better than 16.5 MPG & i am stock, except for the K&N drop in filter
with any fill up when i pull off the highway & gas up, then get right back on again, my EVIC reads 520 miles to empty too, but i don't believe it for a minute. I drive 350 to 400 miles & i make it a point to fill up again
Letting the fuel pump get exposed to anything but liquid, could shorten the life of the fuel pump

Stating 16.5 MPG for daily driving is interesting but not very. If you drive in Manhattan daily that's amazing; if it's open highway all the time I'm not impressed. It's the same with 520 mile to the tank. If you have a 26 gal tank you're doing pretty well but if you have a 32 not so much.

As far as the mods I doubt they have any effect on your gas mileage. It's possible that a voltage stabilser might be good for electrical components but there are no horsepower or MPG gains from it unless your system is not working properly. In which case you should have your electrical system fixed. As for a TB Spacer they could affect HP and MPG slightly if they were about a meter long otherwise no.

Think about it; these two parts might cost a manufacturer $5 to install at the factory. Between CAFE laws marketing etc. if they could get any significant gains in HP and/or MPG for that small an investment don't you think they would already do it? No dime store add-on has ever been show to make a difference in these areas.

No offense but I wasn't sure if this thread was a serious post at first. There are many posts like this one about T/B spacers.
http://www.ramforumz.com/showthread.php?t=85985

These trucks already come with a factory voltage regulator for the more than adequate alternator. I did read that Tuner Magazine dyned a ricer and got 3rwhp after installing the NRG...but you can get hp differences larger than that on the same vehicle w/o changing a thing just from the change in environmentals.

Could you drive it in the opposite direction on one tank?

Truck looks good. Keep modding. There are lots of ideas here and some trucks have seen some good hp gains.

Truck looks good! Regardless of whether or not folks here have gotten a positive result from a TB spacer, I'm glad you feel it's working for you.

What was your mileage before you put it in?
