Exclamation 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 v6 3.9L 2wd

ok, i just bought this truck and there are a number of small issues that im wondering about. when i start the truck the vehicle idles perfectly fine for a good min. but then it lowers the idle then starts to have some rough idling and some clacking in the engine. now... im sure its not that serious because its not like knocking the engine. it sounds like either a rocker arm assembly or i need new heads. other than that the engine doesnt knock when you give it gas but seems to not have alot of power. its hard to explain its like it will get up and go but like a 4 banger engine... any help or pointers or anything would be greatly appreciated... OH and i did change the sparkplugs yesterday and its running a little bit better than before but still the same issues.

First start with giving it a tune up, and clean the THROTTLE BODY most certainly and be sure to clean the IAC. The IAC is what controls the idle, Idle Air Controller lol... The pintle on the IAC gets all sorts of varnish and dirt buildup over time and clogs up then the engine gets horrible idle and other problems. Be sure the replace the air cleaner mount gasket and the throttle body gasket and torque the bolts to 200 inch lbs.

Ok next thing and very easy thing is to put a bottle of fuel injector cleaner in half a tank of gas. This ways you have a really concentrated amount of cleaner to clean the fuel system, injectors, and intake valves.

But I can say for sure once you clean that throttle body and IAC their will be a dramatic increase in power and you will notice it right away and the idle should go back to normal. If the idle doesn't go to normal then it's either a IAC, MAP, or TPS sensor. Generally it's just the IAC most common, be sure when you handle the IAC don't push or pull on the pintle cause it will damage it then you have to buy another one and it becomes expensive after you break stuff.

But do all this and I can almost promise you it will fix everything, just tell me how it goes...

Here are torque specs.

Spark Plugs: 30 FT/LBS
Throttle Body Bolts: 200 IN/LBS
IAC: 60 IN/LBS
TPS: 60 IN/LBS
MAP: 60 IN/LBS

Be sure to give me some rep points, I'm trying to collect some.
