Hi folks, Just changed my tranny and diff. fluid today. Tranny was fine, but when I removed my diff. cover, I found the dreaded broken clip pieces in the bottom of the chunk!!!! There just two very small pieces, and that is it. Not the hand full of stuff some get. Anyway, i diddnt see any damage other than that and the oil was clean. The truck
has 40,000 miles and the diff. has been serviced before. Diff. functions perfect for now.....
My question is this, if there is minimal damage in there, is there a easy way to replace the broken clip????How many clips are in there????
I looked in there best I could and it looked like I could see another clip that was holding the clutch pack together. I guess that is what I was looking at, but it looked to be about 1" long, 1/2" wide, and about 1/2" deep. The two pieces I found in my pan were very small, but had the same general shape as what I was seeing around the clutch pack.
Is there (upgraded) clips now?????
Can't believe this truck with 40k babied miles has a rear diff. coming apart!!
It is the 392 LSD.....I changed the oil with Mobile 1 75W-140 full syn. and a bottle of friction modifier for now. The dealer wanted $42.00 a quart for there stuff. What a joke.....Would yall agree with the Mobile 1 oil???
Please give me some good news....Thanks for all yer help...
