Default 14" exhaust

Hey all. I just got a Ram a few days ago and am looking to get the exhaust done. I swear I have been looking through the forum for days to find the info I need. I see that most people get the 18" magnaflow and are happy with it. I am debating on getting the 14", but only if it isn't too loud in the cab at cruising speeds. There are lots of videos on here and youtube, but none that let me know about the sound inside the cab. I don't want the exhaust overpowering conversation inside the cab, that's how it was on my previous truck. I am going to order the muffler as soon as you guys help me come to a conclusion! =)

2 other questions, first, should I keep the resonators on or remove them?

Second, is there a difference whether I get the muffler with dual 2.25 exits compared to 2.50? My truck has the dual exhaust stock.

Thanks for your help!
Brian

i have a 18 inch magnaflow with single 3 inch outlet and love it. loud when you get on it, but quiets down on the highway. i had a flowmaster before same set up it was loud all the time, got annoying on a long drive.not sure about the resonators. bigger the pipe more flow.

I have the 14, its actually quite quiet compared to my last exhaust which was a Bassani cat back, man that thing was so loud that you had to scream when you talked. The 14 even tows nice.. the kid can watch movies in the back and I don't have to have the volume up very loud. Be noted that I bought a kit from mufflex.com and it retains the stock rear pipes, it may get way louder if your get rid of the resonators.

I ended up going with a 14" DynaPro high flow and at 110k its got a little rumble ( not silent like the stock at highway) but its nothing that will stop conversation in the cab. At the moment i always drive around with the back window open with the sunroof cracked to give me some air flow and i don't find it to bad at all, gotta love the sound when its stepped on though, makes the 16 year old inside smile that's for sure. I left the baffles on by the tips myself, the exhaust guy said that it would help with the drone of the louder muffler not to mention the sound it makes when the MDS kicks in.

If you're worried about resonance in the cab, keep the stock resonators, they are there to prevent that. Sounds like 18" would better suite you. Get a muffler that has the same size exits as whatever the duals are stock, I'm not sure, but would guess they are 2.25" stock duals.

Thanks for the replies! Don't get me wrong, I love loud exhaust. I just wanted to make sure the 14" wouldn't be overwhelming in the cab. Sounds like it will be ok. Plus, I figured if I want the 18", all I have to do is remove the 14" muffler and a few inches of pipe and put the 18" in. I will leave the stock resonators in. I can always take them out later. Looks like I will be ordering a muffler and Y soon =)

^ Good choice and don't fret about the resonators, they aren't a restriction, they are basically a straight through pipe, just perforated.

MagnaFlow 14" XL series with dual side pipes in front on the rear wheels here. Co-worker said it vibrated he's windows when I blew by him on the highway.

I took out everything up to the factory Cats on mine
