From the research ive done so far . rough country offers a decent kit and ebay has name brand kits for cheaper. and installation wise i believe as long as you can remove a strut assembly you can do this yourself in under 2 hours with proper tools.

I just purchased a leveling kit; all it consists of are new front springs. Easiest and cheapest way to do it from what I have heard.

not that difficult to install, however most leveling kits require a spring compressor, and you can go and rent them from autozone or places like that...but I wouldnt put my life in the hands of one of those little contraptions..all that energy springing loose could seriously cause some damage. If you have a industrial grade spring compressor, or a friend with one at his shop or something thats a different story. I dont have access to a good industrial one so I am prob going to have someone install mine for me, that spring popping off the rental scares the crap out of me.

the rough country leveling kit does NOT require spring compressors which is awesome. i have those little spring compressors they are at times unreliable. but ive used them alot and had success. i am not gonna argue with you though. they are unsafe for the most part. which leveling kit did you get and through which vendor?

The leveling kit for your truck is a little different then other ram 1500s. 02-05 Rams have torsion bars, your can actually crank your keys up with out buying any spacers or springs.
You can buy the 2" key but it will be about the same result. I wouldnt go much higher then 2" with torsion bars because it'll ride pretty rough
Spring compressors can be really dangerous. If you tighten them evenly there is a much lesser chance of them coming off but I've also had mercedes spring bend the thread all, didnt even bother trying a 2500 spring after that

Ok I'm new to the Ram world, well 4x4 altogether. What exactly is a leveling kit and what does it do? Sorry for the newbie question.

When the truck comes stock they come at an angle with the frontend lower than the backend. A level kit just makes them even which looks better when you want to get rims and tires etc.

Figured this out with a little more searching on the forum. I think I'm going get a leveling kit just too hold me over until I can afford my 4" lift I want
