Lightnings are the fastest IMO. I raced many trucks..to include the SRT-10's with my Lightning and beat them all.

My cousins been through them all and the lightning was hands down the fastest. Of course after he had his way they all ended up in the high 11s
I've also watched cummins run 14.3-14.5 1/4 miles with only a tuner and straight pipe. That IMO is really impressive.

stock vs stock, cyclone and typhoon are the fastest. Now with aftermarket availability, etc.... you can probably make some of the others (lightning, srt-10) faster for less money. They're all different too (turbo v6, supercharged v8, NA v10) and all very impressive...something else unique about the cy/ty is the awd.

This is a funny topic, the boyz here in Dequincy meet every Friday night in a remote area at a make shift strip. And the fastest trucks there are two old Chevy S10's that are mopping up the streets with junk yard 383 strokers. That includes trucks out of Texas and Mississsippi and I'm not counting the cars that come out. I say junk yard motors because they swap out used parts to keep these trucks running. I've seen 600 plus hp BB's and super charged trucks come out looking stupid because they can't hook up on the street like a good n/a small block can. Street racing is a totally different ball game than racing at a track. And no I don't race mine there, I wouldn't want to make a fool out of myself. If you come out here with some serious hp, you better be able to hook up or you're going home with your 40 thousand dollar head between your legs. And just to let you La boys know, I'm not from this town...I was born in New Orleans and raised in Kenner by the lake. I lived on the east and west bank and we all had the same mobile makeshift tracks to race on. So you guys 40ish on up from the west bank may know of Moons wrecking yard (built and raced everything under the sun), Jakes Speed Shop in NO (he passed), ole Shreve Automotive and maybe Dennis automotive (Korky) in kenner. Shreves is not far from Southern Hotrod back behind the airport and there are plenty others back there but don't advertize. That said, it boils down to the driver in every case and who you know and what you know, they're all fast and they can all be faster.

Turbocharged LS based Chevrolets are fast. I watched a 383 ci (Iron 6.0 Block with 3.75" Stroke) Chevy Step Bed run 10.3's with a to loose converter. Im almost certain it would have run high 9's watching how bad the converter was hurting. Pretty darn fast for a 4000+ lb truck. It was trapping in the mid-130's despite the loose converter.

On the street is a different but the same.

1. High Stall converters work well on the street but they need to be built with a low STR.
2. Suspension work is just as important but it needs to hit softer but plant harder.
3. About the fastest car Ive seen made work on the street was a 2680 lb Monza with a 477" big Block, a 1.76 Lo PG, 1.0 STR 4600 rpm stall. It ran on 32" W Slicks, had relatively tall gears, and a 2-Stage Nitrous. It left on the motor, used the first stage after it was well settled in high (About 200' Out) and the 2nd stage about 600'.

I dont know what it ran on the N20 or in the 1/4 but it would run 6.30 1/8 at 110 mph on the motor at the track. I suspect it would have done high 8's on both stages on a 1/4.

Default Street Drags

La Crosse, Wis. runs street style drags, on the straightaway, of the 5/8 mile oval track. No burnouts allowed, 299ft. and a pro-style tree.

There are cars built speciffically for this event. Wrinklewall slicks, on cars with 650 - 800 pound ballast, will pull the wheels on the launch. A typical MPH at the end of 299ft. is 76-78 MPH on a radar gun.( cold tires and ballast) . The fun begins at the end, as you have to get on the brakes very hard, to make the turn!

I have seen a couple of 9 sec. AWD Eclipses, win the unlimited class, spanking an 8 sec. BBC Firebird.

The truck class is impressive, the trucks on occasion run in the unlimited class also.............big fun.

64 inches of rubber doesn't leave much room for a rearend on a Monza, lol!

This is a a good friend of my dads that he works with. I've ridden in this car 5-6 times and every time atleast one person tried to race him, the car has a 602 hemi with spray but runs on pump gas, it's only mini tubed and even has a back seat

The parachute kinda gives it away anymore.
