There's a car my best friend and I swapped back and forth a few times. He has it now. It's a '71 datsun 240. It has had various smallblock chevys in it over the years. The fastest was a 12.5:1 350 with a 300 shot of nitrous. At the track he'd roll out about 30 feet and hit it. Best it did on the track was 9.52 at 152. It trapped high enough to run high 8's, but rolling out so far before spraying it killed the ET. The car was pretty much stock other than the motor and turbo 350 in it. Stock as in, no subframe connectors, no cage or rollbar, stock rear end and halfshafts. Well, he put an r200 rear in it instead of the r180, but that's a direct bolt in out of a later car.

The thing about datsuns is, on a small slick they hook on the street pretty much as hard as they do on most tracks. The car would make you smile when you sprayed the 300 shot because the acceleration would literally pull your face up and back. I had to reweld the bottom of the passenger seat where he sprayed it with a passenger and it threw the guy back hard enough to pop a weld. I got the car with that engine and ended up selling the motor, I don't even remember why. The guy that got the motor put it in a '75 monte carlo, bench seat, column shifter and all. He put a good fuel system in it and a 3" single exhaust. It ran 6.60's in the 1/8th. Totally jaw dropping-no weight reduction in the car at all. You can imagine what it did in the datsun on the street. And yes, the datsun was never beaten on the street. Some of the cars listed above in this thread might have done it, but nothing around here had enough to do it.

lol...the title of this thread is "fast trucks"....most of the posts are becoming "fast cars"...

Also, I think we covered the fastest production trucks (which I think was the point of the thread)...

You're right about it morphing into cars. Well, to help put it on track, my '09 rcsb 2wd runs high 13's in cool weather (about 60 degrees or less). Not a world beater, but pretty good for a stock truck.

GM
6.2 Liter Silverado and Sierra

Lol, I said that I do not doubt him, we have the same trucks...same setup and I know what they're capable of. I'm still waitng on pics that he said he would post and I'm bored, lol! He said he would eventually post them, is it too much trouble to ask...it seems he is home now. But if you're up to telling us some of your wonderful stories I'm definately game for that as well, lol!

Lol just showing his post. That's all. I think I saw pics of the slips somewhere else so I'll try to find them. Although that might have been jdustu who posted pics of his 13.7 runs

Edit: Nope it was jdustu that I saw pics of slips from

That's okay, I appreciate that but I think was jdustu who posted it...you're a good man Charlie Brown, lol! How've you been...hope you slowed down some, lol! Like I said, racing is cool but it's also cool to turn down a few...especialy the non competitive ones. You're a smart kid and you're better than that. Those who you turn down will hate and envy your faster truck and that's what you want, they'll respect you more. Not to mention it lowers the chances of tickets or worse accidents. Now up with your pics v8440, lol!
