Default MDS analysis

I installed this neat little aeroforce interceptor gauge in my dash.
It can monitor a huge list of parameters at the push of a button.
In the pics shown it is set to display MDS status and current gear.
I read a lot of people hate MDS and want to disable it. Now I can actually
see when it is on or off and I tell you it is rarely on. First of all it will never
come on in tow/haul mode or when you are in manual shift mode. The only
time it will come on is when tow/haul is off and you are in "D"
It can come on in lower gears too - as you can see it came after the
upshift to 4th gear ( still in "D" ) this was coasting on a decline.
The slightest push on the gas pedal it will turn off, you really have to be
driving light-footed to get it to come on, mostly downhill or slight declines.
Forget inclines or accelerating - any push on the gas it goes off immediately. On a 100 mile freeway drive it was on maybe 10% of the time. So my conclusion is to drive around town in tow/haul or manual 5 for
better driveability and "D" on the freeway to get some better mileage.

That's a pretty cool little display. Where did you get it?

Got the gauge at marylandspeed.com $239
Since I have a ram r/t got the custom r/t logo on it
Also comes in different display colors and trim ring finishes
One wire install - plugs into the OBDII port
Oh yeah - it also has 0-60 1/8 mile and 1/4 mile function

pretty cool little toy you have there.

I had come to a similar conclusion about MDS, just you've confirmed it LOL

I think some of the programming on the MDS is the issue. I do a lot of city driving and do not want or need the MDS kicking in at 25 MPH which mine does. Yes I can tap the gas and kick the MDS off but why should I have to do that or put it in 5th gear manually to keep the MDS off. The EVIC displays "eco" when MDS is activated and I can tell a difference in the exhaust note. IMO MDS should be programed to kick in only at 50+ MPH.
