Question 1997 5.9 overheating?

Hey, I replaced my t-stat(195), my temp sensor, my temp switch, cleaned and flushed my radiator, and replaced my fan clutch. My gauge still reads over 220 fairly quickly after starting, say 5 to 10 minutes. What elso could it be Gauge, do 97s get air bogged? Help Thanks

Sure hope someone figures out this, mine is doing the same thing. Thought about pulling the top end and reworking all of it to help solve this problem and a couple other little things. Shaun

hmm thats interesting, would a cracked head have anything to do with it? maybe another radiator flush? I know the water in mine was super dirty when I changed it after getting it from my dad and it needed to be drained and refilled twice. Wish I could help more man, never had this issue

Default Maybe

The Mehanic that changed my Clutch said he thought the water pump was fine and maybe the gauge was bad. He just wasn't a Dodge guy. I thinking of replacing the t-stat again, but it is a pain in the butt. I sprayed cold water on the radiator today and the temp still read 220 while being sprayed.

You might want to get one of those infrared heat sensors to see what the temp actually is. Might help you rule out the gauge.

I put a temp probe on many different areas of my engine and radiator. The highest temp I recorded was 169.8 degrees (60 degree night) and that was on the t-stat housing. My temp gauge still read 220 degree. I'm thinking of going to junk yard and grab a gauge and see if that works. thanks for all your advise everybody.
