Default HID problem; Fog Lights

Here is yet another HID problem to add to the list on the forum:
I have a set of HIDs installed on my foglights. I have had them installed for several months now and worked fine; no flickering, to fade in when I turn them on. Just a brilliant 10k, retina buring light.
As of today, when I turn them on, I blow a fuse under the hood. Parking lights still work, but no fogs.
I upped the fuse temporarily from a 15a to a 20a (that's the only spare I had), and the passenger side came on for a few seconds then popped the fuse.
I'm at my wits end with HIDs. I also have a Chrysler 300 with HID fogs on that I can't keep working for more than 2 months at a time until a bulb goes out.

Any thoughts?? Suggestions?? Anyone want to lend me a sledgehammer?

Hammer is on it's way! From all I've read about the HID's my thought is to go back to some super bright PIAA'S or Slyvania SilverStar bulbs. Do you have a relay in the system? It might have gone bad. Good luck!

I had a similar issue with the fuse blowing. Came to find out the ballast was bad. I'm guessing since your passenger side came on for a few before you blew the fuse then it could be the driver side ballast. This corrected my issue. Also double check your wiring and make sure nothing is shorting out. Hope this helps

I am gonna guess that either there is a short (frayed wire?) in the circuit or one of your ballasts has gone bad.

Thanks. I have a few spare ballasts. Once the temp drops below 105 degrees outside, I'll attempt the swap.

Replaced the ballasts, still blows fuses as soon as I turn the fog lights on. I really don't want to go back to the stock bulbs.
No frayed or bare wires. All items are still new-looking and protected from the elements.
I did a voltage test on my fuse box and I am getting a good reading where the fuse goes (12-14V with engine off).

Would a bad relay cause this issue? Is this something AutoZone would carry?
