Default differential help

I was looking into replacing the dreaded differential clutch retainer clips in my 3.92 LSD. I was told on another Dodge forum that they sold (upgraded) clips now and even got a OEM part number. I took the number to the dealer and the guy told me that they couldn't sell just the clips, that it had to be a complete carrier assembly. The guy was very nice and went out of his way to help, but this doesn't make since unless it was warranty work which it is not. He couldn't tell me if it was a upgraded clip though. Said that it did not mention it any where. I would never go to the expense to put the stock clips back in there because there CRAP!!!! but I might would try it with more heavy duty ones.
My other option is going to an open diff. but I would probably regret that.
My other option is shelling out the bucks for a Auburn LSD unit and installing it and calling it done. That would be best I no, but way more costly than replacing a 25.00 set of clips plus labor. (I am a mechanic but I'm not schooled on the guts of trannys and differentials.)
What do you guys think.....especially about the upgraded clips...
Thanks............

I suggest that you call someone like Randys Ring & Pinion, they deal with that kind of thing every day
