Yes Rain, ice, snow, or a burn out will cause the ESP to engage. It engages when the tires spin or lose traction and the computer kicks in the ESP to stop the loss of traction by applying the brakes to affected wheel or wheels. You can disable it by hitting the ESP button but I wouldnt for normal driving it really does help....now if your at a drag strip then yea ya might.

I'm guessing you were driving on the highway, in the rain, with the cruise control on ???

Hey all. Got a quick question. The check engine light on my 2011 ram 1500 slt 5.7 hemi came on. The ESC light came on and nothing happened. then it happened again and I would be on the highway and the transmission would not engage when I accelerate and I would have to switch to 5th gear or neutral then back to drive. sometimes it would feel like the accelerator would stick. the problem is very intermittent and does not occur while driving on local roads. When I restart the truck the ESC light would not come on just the check engine light. i am taking it in but was curious to see if anyone can give me an idea of what it might be and how painful it will be to the wallet.

Weather is not a factor as it occurs in all weather conditions.

Thanks for the help.

is this the same as trac control. if so i don't see a button like that on my 11 only the tc button. on my last car it had both you just held the tc button down until both showed off.
