Default Adding OEM backup camera

I am trying to add a OEM backup camera to my 2010 Dodge Ram pickup truck and was wondering if it is just a plug and play install or will i need to take it to the dealership to get it flashed?

I had the dealership install mine and if I remember correctly it does have to be flashed but not 100% sure.

I added my own front and rear cams, if you use lockpick there is no flash required.

I dont know nothing about the lockpick but the camera install is not all that hard. you will get a new tailgate handle with the camera in it and a harness. The handle is held in with two nuts. The harness will run down the left frame rail. The "hardest" part is you will have to splice into your reverse wire under the hood. You will also have to run a wire to the back of the radio which is fairly straight forward. then off to the dealer for a flash.

Here is the install guide.

Lockpick was a piece of cake to install and it is working perfectly. Set and forget. For the rear cam, I just drilled a hole in the tailgate handle in the same location as factory, not at all hard to do.

Your going to spend alot more on a factory back up camera. The handle with camera is 450 from the dealership. That was quoted to me. If your into spending money like that its all you. But they make them where they bolt right up to the license ate for way less. I prefer either one. But its all on what your preference is.

Just found out from my Brother who sold me my 2011 cherry sport quad that you have to have the right model of 430N. I have RGH so I'm SOL. The ones that are compatible with the 430N are REN and RER from what I can tell. The Lockpick is freakin' sweet though. Camera in the front would be rad. Gotta wait for the warranty to expire first for me.

Do you have a photo of the final look on both the front and rear cams?
