Very nice upgrade & install. What are the part numbers for the front & rear cameras? I am very interested in "copy catting" your install on my RAM.

thanks!

I did not have the nav/touchscreen radio when I bought my truck but did have the handfree phone. The deal said that all I would have to change was the radio and the handfree phone would still work. They are wrong I found this site that has the factory nav/touchscreen radios with everything that you will need cheaper then getting it from the deal.

http://www.oemautopartsco.com/

Installed in my truck in about one hour.

Is the video wiring already in the truck? Or must one run a wire from back to front? I'm going to do this for my father....he has a 2010 1500 SLT. I have purchased a new head unit, camera and LockPick. There isn't a wire over 5 feet long. My father (older gentlreman, not tech savvy) lives in another town and I'd like to make sure I have everything I need before travelling to install this for him. Thanks in advance!!

Gotta run the wiring, not a big deal. Just be careful to run wires above suspension. If you have the OEM NAV head unit, its all plug and play

I bought an RBZ radio off Ebay, a V.5 lockpick and a camera suitable for tailgate handle mounting. Is there a wire type that is more preferable than another? I imagine that it should be shielded.

I have an aftermarket DDHU in my truck with a cam I bought on amazon. Works good. Just hit camera on HU to display it. Cam has power anytime HU is on.

After purchasing, installing, re-flashing, the dealer tells me my unit is not compatible...awesome

I would like to replicate the RansRam install as well. Do the 2012's have the scored/outlined cutting area on the handle? What camera did you use? Did the camera plug right into the lockpick?

Thanks

I installed a back-up camera on my 2009, I used this monitor:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ls_o07_s00_i00

and this Camera:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ls_o07_s01_i00

I spliced into the the passenger side back up light, white is the signal wire, black is the ground. I mounted the camera on the license plate frame. You run the camera power from the back-up light, to the camera. Then, you run an rca av cable to the monitor in the vehicle. For that, I took power from the radio main power and ground wires on the harness. I drilled a small hole right above the radio and ran the wires to connect through there, so they are hidden when the trim is replaced. I ran the AV signal cable through the floorboard and under the carpet to up in the radio trim/bezel. Power is activated on the monitor when there is a signal from the camera. So, it only comes on when you go in reverse, and then goes out. This particular monitor also has audio inputs, so you can watch movies on it Which I don't use, but you could. Total cost, $41. I did need a small extenstion cable to reach all the way, I had lots of extra cable, so I just had to buy a AV video cable coupler for $2. I the monitor sits on my dash, works great! I can post pictures if anyone cares.

Thanks for the reply! I am trying to decide if I go with the stock setup, or aftermarket. Aftermarket sure is a lot more cost effective!!
