Default CAT back?

Will there be any significant change by changing to a more free flo muffler or even just straight pipe after the CAT?

I do not want it to be much louder than stock. I don't want to hear it in the cab. Just wondering if it would give it more acceleration or power.

I don't have the money for all the deletes and programer that I want right now.

Not sure what you'd define as significant but it won't in my book.

To realize the maximum benefit of the better flow at the back end, you need to add more air at the front end, with a cold air intake.

You will get some improvement but you'll barely notice it, if at all, just doing the exhaust.

MADDOG, as for the CAI, I do run a AFE oiled filter and I did add another air inlet to my stock intake box, just as PSM Diesel had recommended because they feel that it is just as good or better than any aftermarket unit. Here is what I did : http://www.ramforumz.com/showthread.php?t=86672 .

So I believe I have what is needed up front. I could be wrong, but then PSM Diesel would be too.

So, what is your opinion now? Does this change anything? I need all the help from you guys that I can get. Like I said, I don't have the extra cash to spend on a programmer and the deletes right now, so any improvement in towing and mileage without all the $$$$$$ would be great. I just don't want to spend the money to have a straight pipe put on from the CAT if it isn't going to feel any different than what I have now with the stock setup. If you guys don't think it will make a difference, I'll just hold on and wait till I have the money for the whole package.

And remember, I don't want to go loud either.

Thanks

You will get a slight improvement now that you do have a CAI already.

What I'd do is save up for the system you want and not do the exhaust twice.

A straight pipe will be really loud and you may end up with a loss of low end torque as you need some backpressure in the exhaust system.

Thanks MADDOG.

I'll save the time and money for the whole thing.
