Default sticky tires needed

Looking for some really good tires in the 31"-33" range. Rim size isn't that important. I currently have 20s but I also have a set of 18s that I'm looking for an excuse to buy b/c they are 8 lbs lighter per wheel.

so, does anyone have any suggestions on a good set of tires? grip is the main thing I'm concerned about but I won't go as far as running DRs on a daily driver.

thanks for the suggestions.

yeah. looking for something better than average for my everyday tire.

so far I've been looking at the Nitto NT420S & Falken Ziex S/TZ04.

Those are both great tires. I have the Toyo Open Country A/T tires on my truck and they are great road tires.

Winter Tires :P..................

But i did run Falken Ziex S/TZ04 for 30k and was very happy with them. I didn't have real performance bolt ons at the time so i cant advise on how they grip from idle but they performed great on dry, wet and dirt conditions.

kay9, nice looking truck!

I've seen people recommend winter tires before...what's the deal/reasoning with this? are they just a softer thread compound? I ask b/c I've never lived anywhere where winter tires are needed. I guess it did snow some here last winter so maybe this is my first. The Navy has usually taken me to nice sunny coastal places!

Yep due to the soft compound and grip tread some refer them as the poor man drag radial.

Thanks for the comment.

With my mods now and in the future i now run 18" Nitto NT555r Drag Radials in the rear full time and i am very pleased with them. Unbelievable on the dry pavement with good enough puncture resistance against the elements. Good in drizzle rain but i would put my old street tires (Toyo Proxes ST II) back on if there is forecast for major rain.

I have the Nitto NT420S on my SRT10 22's. They stick like crazy. Can barely break them loose from a dig. The limited slip helps too.
