It'sonly two years old and a track loader so actually surprisingly comfortable, especially compared to our old mustang skid steer with over the wheel steel tracks(stupid isuzues) I spent two weeks on our new kabota kx121-3s excavator till my girlfriends dad figured out how to change it from ISO controls back to SAE. Foot controls were awkward but having air conditioning was really really nice, which us why I got booted once he figured it out haha
I already have arthritis in my ankles and a bunch of other aches and pains already so I hardly notice anymore lol

the bosch injectors are some of the best. What kills them is the poor fuel filtering of the Cummins. The injectors require a 2 or 3 micron and the stock fuel filter is 10micron.

Once people throw on a duel filter setup they are set.

Went to my first diesel in 2008. There is no looking back love the diesel over the gas hands down. I tow light maybe 4 to 6 times a year with the boat or cargo trailer both lighter weight could be done with a 1500. No desire for a gas motor absolutely stuck on diesel. Actually stuck on bigger truck with diesel now 1500 has diesel lol. Just ordered 16 2500 limited.

Ive got an 07 one ton dually with the 5.9 and a 13 1/2 ton with a hemi.I work the cummins hard towing a trailer every day and its almost always loaded. When we take a trip I always take the 07 because I just like the way it drives and it gets better mileage than the hemi.If I only had one truck it would be a cummins dually.

I really like the 5.9 cummins have an 2002, 24 valve with only 27,000 miles on it used only for pulling that is my next truck I get for my 2nd year at college I absolutely love it. I have heard good stuff on the 6.7 when you delete it and take the emissions stuff off. I like this thread allot I want to learn more about the newer 6.7 as my Dad wants another diesel when I take that one so he has decided to buy a megacab with a 6.7 sometime soon.

I bought my first truck this past Spring for the primary purpose of towing our 7000+ (fully loaded) lb travel trailer. Up to then, I'd been using my '05 Durango with the 4.7 L motor. It was woefully underpowered even when I kept the trailer weight well under 5000 lbs.

My "new to me" truck is a '04 Dodge Ram 2500 with the 5.9 L Cummins turbo diesel. It had less than 70,000 miles on it and was in primo condition. A mechanic friend of mine is very fond of the Dodge truck line and is particularly fond of the 5.9 L Cummins Diesel motor.

I'm pleased to be reading that the 5.9 L Cummins is revered so highly by those that favor the Diesel powerplant. I'm also pleased to know that the '04 version was not encumbered with all of the "pesky" emission control devices.

I'm a little worried that since the travel trailer is in storage for the Winter months, I won't be utilizing the full capability of the truck. I hope that the disuse doesn't result in any maintenance concerns. I still have the Durango and will probably use it quite a bit throughout the Winter.

RE: the OP's original question, "which Diesel motor is best" (or something along those lines), I have neither the knowledge nor experience to answer with any level of authority. Based on what I'm reading and what my mechanic friend tells me, the 5.9 L Cummins turbo Diesel is clearly a front runner. (And that makes me smile ;-) !!
