I'm chomping at the bit to get mine, coming straight from the factory to my dealer, so it hasn't been test driven by anyone etc. I am excited my first new truck!

drp6982 what CAI are you using and what is a catch can? Also if you use something besides the Mopar CAI if you run into an engine problem will they try to void your warranty?

to be honest, my Charger is my Modding car. I did put a drop in K&N cause I dont have plans for a CAI. I have a Speedlogix Catch can on my truck and Durango, and a Moroso Can on the Charger.

Its against the law for them to void your warranty because of aftermarket parts unless the mod can be related to the problem at hand.

For example, if you drop a valve they cant use the CAI as a reason to void your warranty.

Hey...The new truck sounds great. Im also coming from a diesel. I had a dodge 2500 and I pull a 28' boat. On the trailer it weights about 7500lbs. I hooked up the boat for the first time. The truck kinda sags a little but coming from a 2500 I knew that it would. I got it on the road and I was really surprized and happy. It pulled it like a big dog. I ran 75 down the interstate without an issue. I had the tow on which keeps it out of over drive and it took the hills great. Im happy and not sorry at all that I bought it. I did have my doughts coming from a diesel 2500 but it did great. Hook up and pull.

Thanks for that info LHANKS. Thats the weight I pull so thats great to hear you can run it at 75 easy. My last gasser was a 99 dodge 5.2 magnum 5 speed manual and if I had a head wind I couldn't even get up to freeway speed with an empty horse trailer lol. That's why I got rid of it and got the chevy diesel.

I noticed you are in Idaho. Idaho = hills/mountains. You may or may not be dissapointed coming from a diesel. These new Rams with 3:92s do a nice job pulling, but they don't compare to a diesel. Please let us know your thoughts after pulling with your new Ram.

I will defiantly let you know. I think I will tow this weekend but just take two horses instead of three and just take it easy on it because the alternative is taking my girl friends truck an early 80's GMC. It is pretty much just a straight freeway drive that is nice and flat.

I am also coming from a 5.9 Diesel and heading to Colorado this next weekend towing a 98 jeep wrangler an my 18' carhauler. I have to remember its not a Diesel and hoping I have not made a mistake!

Now I have read on some other posts that guys are saying towing just 8000 pound trailers they where having problems, like heat issues and got some funny smells. My Outdoorsman says it's rated to pull 10,050 pounds, so I figured I never pull that much so I shouldn't have a problem, but if guys are having problems at 8000 pounds that isn't good.

Night and day between the two trucks and their towing. I have a dually Cummins and the Hemi 1500. Honestly, you probably WILL be disappointed with the gasser for towing and mileage. They just arn't in the same league at all. The Hemi does okay mind you, but coming from a torque monster like you have it will require some adjustment on your part mentally. Be patient and get used to winding her up a bit to find the torque! I switch between the two often and dang it's just amazing how different they are. I love them both for different reasons and I am sure you will too.
Hemi towing 3500 pounds, one axle highway = 10-11 Mpg.
Cummins towing 18,000 pounds three axle highway = 10-11 Mpg.
