Interesting, and it works on our trucks - you loose auto dimming mirror and some other features on the high end that are found in the factory mirror. But for the safety features OnStar provides it might be well worth the $300 price tag. Oh yea, can't forget the $200 annual fee.

One of those mods that can wait. I love the auto dimming mirrors especially since they are on all three sides helps with glare and glasses.

Does it have to be installed as the rearview mirror? Just connect it and stow it. Might not be worth it, but its an option if you want to keep the auto-dimming feature.

Yeah definatly a mod that can wait. I have a few friends with Onstar in their GM vehicles and they love it. im not crazy about losing the autodimming either. Youd think with everything else packed into that mirror, autodimming wouldve been a no brainer. Really not crazy about the 200/yr fee either for the service. pretty pricy.

What exactly does Onstar do? I mean, all I ever see are commercials with people who break down and they get help from Onstar... I can do that with my cell phone!

I had onstar in my chevy before this truck and I loved it. However the 200 dollar price tag is steep. I paid 12 if I remember right for the full service. I also love my autodimming mirror. I will add this in the future I'm sure, but after they figure out a way to keep the autodimming mirror.

Onstar is the only thing GM has over Dodge as far as I am comcerned. You had a built in phone that you could purchase minutes on. I never went to a place where I couldn't use it, even if my cell phone didn't have a signal. You also can use it as a conceirge(spelling?) service. If you want to know what pizza places are near you they can look it up. Turn by turn is also available if you don't have nav built in. You can call and they can unlock your doors for you if you locked yourself out, or they automatically call you in an accident. My favorite feature and one I think they should advertise more, is that if you have a cel light come on, you can have them run a vehicle diagnostic and they will tell you what code is tripped, and whether you should be alarmed. I had a few times driving down the road on the highway that my cel came on. Rather than being alarmed, I pressed the button, had them read the vehicle as I'm going 70 on the highway, and in 30 seconds you know what code it is. One time it was my gas cap. One time it was my ABS system. There was something wrong with my rear passenger brake that was fixed under warranty...

glad I got my truck when I did, not being able to get one without onstar gear in it was a HUGE reason I didn't buy a chevy

It's nice, but impractical for some. There are some places that don't allow onstar equipped vehicles to enter because of the radio interference...
