Default 3'' leveling kit too much?

Hey guys, wanting to know if a 3" leveling kit is too much, cause i know if i do a 3" leveling kit i can fit 35" tires, but is it to much on the suspsension, or would it be safer to go with a 2.5"? cause either one im pretty sure i can fit 35's, but with the 3" it'd be better?

thanks

If the truck looks leveled with the 2.5 and the tires fit you should be fine and the truck would look great, and if its look more leveled with the 3 then i dont see a problem with that either, either way you should be fine

I was told by a local off road shop that leveling 3" was too much because it puts a lot of stress on ball joints and other suspension parts.

Well with the straight axle it won't be a problem with ball joints only thing that may be a issue would be the pitman arm not bring dropped, but you could get a new pitman arm it steering isn't right

When you put 3" on the front it will also pull the axle almost 3" to the drivers side with out an adjustable track bar. I would say 3" is too much.
The best way to make the decesion on a "leveling" kit is to measure from the center of the axle to the lip of the wheel well in the front and the back and the difference will tell you what to go with

Default 3 inch lift

I have a 2006 1500 with 20 inch factory wheels, I put a two inch leveling kit on and it looked great. Got the death shake . I was told it has to come off , I wasnt happy , spent lots of money installing it. Decided to go ahead and get it aligned . It worked , The truck looks great and rides like factory. They were two inch spacers but raised the truck more than 2 inches. I personaly wouldnt do a 3 inch leveling kit. your asking for trouble, My two inch kit puts the front end geometry to its limits. I think i can put 35s on mine . Ill send you a pic if you want. Let me know . Vern PS in this pic, these wheels are 20 inch w 275 65 20. not far from 31s. put a 3 inch lift kit in and save yourself major headaches

After you installed the level kit did you get it aligned, or not until you had death wobble?

I think 3" will put too much stress on components.
