I'd recommend the airaid jr kit (about $90-$100 new on amazon) and a drop in filter. I bought the MIT tube online and the airaid dry filter ($50) on ebay. Otherwise, I'd recommend sticking with an enclosed box type, or you will lose power once the engine bay is hot.

Better question for the group- I have $$ to spend, what would you recommend for a CIA in my range?

I've seen cheep no name, had one and was not happy with it, off eBay and they start under $100. And I've installed a K&N on the same truck and was happy I spent the $300 on it. Now I have a drop-in in my 10.

A big factor would be are you looking for performance only or performance plus bling, or just bling? You can make a pvc intake with a drop in for about $25-$50 plus the filter and it will perform 98% as good as the others. What I have (the jr kit) is a nice compromise, it has the performance, and looks nice and clean, but not blingy or chrome or shiny or anything, just nice black plastic.

I spent less than $200 buying an AFE direct from AFE. I really like the unit and it is an excellent, quality part.

Listed prices at their website are:

Stage 1 = $177.45

Stage 2 = $313.95

I have a Stage 1.

I didn't see where the Stage 1 was superior to the Stage 2, bud. In fact, just looking at the configuration of the Stage 2 and where it lines up in the engine bay, my thought is that it's better than the Stage 1. I've always had that impression but have no data to go on. All I know is that the Stage 2 works just fine.

That's not much of a gain so let's assume it's a conservative measurement. It also demonstrates why just a CAI alone won't turn your vehicle into a muscle machine.

Kinda like that CAI ya found.
