Default Great gas mileage

My wife and I helped someone move from orlando to jacksonville yesterday(about 4 hour drive), and I drove the uhaul while my wife drive the ram. We all filled up with gas before we left, and were cruising at 65-70mph the whole way (as fast as the uhaul would go), and when we got there the ram had averaged 22.5mpg on the trip (from the EVIC). It only had about 400 lbs in the truck or so, but I was very happy with this gas mileage! It was the first real highway trip it's had, I usually average 17-18mpg otherwise. On the drive back, I drove about 80mph the whole way (it was VERY late lol) and it averaged like 19.5-20mpg on that trip. My wife also managed to curb rash all 4 of my 5k mile old cooper zeon ltz's...

Not too shabby. I haven't done any real highway driving to check mine. I do seem to average around 18.5 in town so can't complain.

Yeah these big trucks don't do bad considering the weight and power output! I was definitely happy.

As far as the tires, I was very upset because I just spent all that money on them, and one of the reasons I bought them was because I like the way they look. It could have been much worse, at least the parts she scuffed weren't over the white letters or anything, and it didn't do any damage or mess up the alignment or anything, and after washing the tires it isn't hardly noticeable (except by me). I just have to keep in mind that she can't back up! lol (I was very interested to hear her explain how she hit all four tires lol!...)

That's great, snrusnak. I think what might have happen is that your wife was behind you and you cut the wind with the truck. My truck stinks when it comes to getting good gas mileage.

She actually wasn't behind me, she took a different route for more than half the trip as she had to swing by her parents and drop off the trailer that we didn't need. We met up about 3/4 way at a seven eleven within 20 minutes of each other (love it when a plan comes together). If we had been driving together those tires never would have gotten scraped up!

That's great. Now I noticed that you have the 4.7, that might explain it. I wish I had some of that kind of mileage. When the truck was new I got somewhere in the 14 MPG range, then the dealer changed the oil for the first time and it went up one mile. I always had Fords but this truck cought my eye and I bought it. I'm glad I did, now I know what a real pick-up truck is.

yeah I know two people with "comparable" F150's, if you want to say that, they both average below 14mpg. Not to mention both are slower at WOT, and slower in real world everyday driving. And like you said I have the 4.7L, they have the 5.4L, that's sad that I am faster all around, and even though the charts may not admit to it, I can tow as much as them(my truck is rated for 6,250 lbs, but I've had near 6,000lb on it and hardly knew it was behind me, braking was pretty much a breeze, and although it didn't accelerate fast, I had plenty of power). My wife's father's F150 has towed around 7,000lb and when we were in there I felt like the damn thing wouldn't stop, even with the trailer brakes, and it was such a slug. Also got around 8mpg at 65mph. Gotta say I like the new ford engine's though (not the vehicles unfortunately lol)

Since it was your wife driving, her foot probably isn't as heavy as yours, especially from stop lights.

I can't help but trying to be the first one off the line from the lights or my mileage would be better
