Default Rear end Swap

I have two question. First will a rear end from a 2002 Ram 3500 fit into a 1999 ram 2500. Second is what does it take to convert a dual wheel rear end to a single wheel rear end. Thanks.

Converting from dual to single wheel is complicated. They use different length axle tubes and shafts, The dual wheel axle is narrower to keep the tracking right. The 2500 is wider. A single tire 3500 rear end will work, but may possibly need the spring perches moved. I went nuts and put a dana 80 out of a 3500 under my 1500, with a dana 60 out of a 3500 under the front and managed to get it all to work,

1. A 1500 axle is not nearly as strong as what's used in the HD trucks. Chances are you'll snap an axle shaft trying to pull with your truck, especially with a cummins.
2. It would take a ton of work to convert a Dana 80 to a single wheel. You could use the dual wheel axle in your truck though. You would still be registered as a 3/4 ton but all you would need would be the wheels and flares, the axle should bolt in
