Unhappy Rubber burning smell

I was driving home on the highway (doing about 70 mph) with my truck (97 Ram 1500 ss/t with a 5.9L V8) and all of the sudden i started smelling a strong order of rubber burning which went away after 20 seconds. I pulled off the highway then the trucks oil pressure dropped a little more than it should of and felt it shake a little.
I didnt see any smoke but I smelled some of the left over scent when i popped open the hood.

Any ideas why would this be happening? Hope its not anything too serious

Check your accessory drive belt and pulleys. Older belts will really stretch in hot weather and they start slipping. Was your A/C on?

Sounds like the belt may be letting go. I would also check for an accessory that may have a bearing going out. Shaun

Does your A/C still work ? A problem with the A/C compressor could explain the burning smell.
