You can certainly do it however to work with the stock media centre you will need the Lockpick which goes for around $250.00. I purchased an audiovox CMOS 2 from Ebay which you can use for normal or reverse video. Here's a link to the install thread for my front CAM. http://www.ramforumz.com/showthread.php?t=83361

You can buy the OEM back up camera that will come with a new handle, camera, wiring, and instructions. Then just take it up to the dealer to have it flashed into the system. This will not only keep the truck looking stock, but it will be covered under warranty. I got my OEM back up camera on eBay for $266 shipped (made an offer) hooked it up in about an hour, took it to a dealer who charged me $72 labor to have it flashed. I also ordered a CHR550 lock pick and an additional camera for the front.

If you do go with an aftermarket camera, there is a ring in the handle that you can cut out on the back side.

How did you run the power to the front camera? Did it come from the Lockpick?

Just another suggestion....If you are looking to buy a new truck, and none of the ones out there have them, have the selling dealer include it as part of the deal. Any good dealer can install the OEM backup camera in your truck before you even take possession of it. When I was looking around, more than one dealer had trucks close to what I was looking for but no camera. Each of them offered to include it in the truck for the cost it would have been as an option from the factory.

You have some leverage here to get that done factory looking before you even pick up your truck. Why mess with aftermarket cameras for backup if you don't have to?

Don't get me wrong, I love the idea of the Lockpick. I have one and I'd do it all over again. But my Lockpick is not for my backup camera, that's factory.

And....If you do decide to do aftermarket, the Lockpick does have the power necessary for the camera.

If I have them install at dealer will they also charge me for technology group? I know when building truck online you can't get camera without it.

I don't think so. When building a truck online, you certainly can't get the camera without a group before it. But the 2011 sport trim comes standard with the 430 touch screen unit, which the OEM camera will work with. If you were to go out and buy the OEM one, you could use it with the stock 430 headunit. No reason why the dealer couldn't install a camera with the stock headunit.

Yes absolutely, that's where I mounted my camera. I took out the stock tailgate handle and simply drilled out the hole. The plastic form is already there that shows you where the factory camera goes. The lockpick provide two pigtail connections, one for the front cam and one for the rear. I ran a single wire from the cab under my truck along the frame rail to the back. It was really easy to do and did not require a trip to the dealer
