Default Exhaust

Question. I got the Magnaflow cutback with the 22' muffler. Should I use the clamps to bolt it on or should I have it welded and why? Please reply asap. Thanks!!!

After. Don't cut the cats unless you understand your local laws.

Speaking of which and not trying to hijack but will it void my warranty or throw codes if I put in an aftermarket y to replace the stock? Had a muffler shop tell me it will and I'll be throwing codes.

somebody correct me if i'm wrong but isnt the dual exhaust setup stainless steel? if it is then welding the joints will cause the stainless to lose it's properties and cause rust.

Yes it is stainless steel, but isn't the stock exhaust welded?

I prefer the clamps so that I can take it off and sell it if I ever decide to sell the truck or go a different route with the exhaust. I just traded in my Infiniti M45 and I took off the Stillen exhaust I had on it so I can sell it.

If you can find a muffler shop that uses Stainless steel mig wire and a Argon/CO2 gas mixture you will not contaminate your Stainless steel. If they only use regular steel wire then yes, the welds will eventualy rust. The same goes with Tig welding. And if you want to get picky use only a new stainless wire brush to clean your welds. I haven't been to a muffler shop in years so Im not sure if any use Stainless Steel. It might be worth asking around.
