I would use a CD since it tells you to remove anything from the USB port. I would rather not pay the dealer to do it. It only takes about 15 minutes. I used the image file from that link. Still have not received a disk yet.

Would you really have to pay for that?

If thats the case then yeah, do it yourself!

I assumed it would be free.

I don't know for sure, but it's pretty rare that a dealer would openly do something for "free".

I had to pay them $72 to 'flash' my truck to allow the back up camera to work after I installed it myself. Took them all of about 20 minutes.....

Well I just did the update myself and I had no problems, but I didn't notice any change except that the Nav button is now colored like a map. I don't see the Eco route feature on the menu.

Download the image file here: http://www.mediafire.com/?rjw4hyrcaay958k

Burn the image to a CDR using some burning software like ImgBurn

Then follow these steps:

Preperation
1. Turn vehicle ignition ON. LEAVE THE IGNITION IN THE ON POSITION FOR THE DURATION!
2. Remove any USB devices from the radio face plate. (I also removed the iPod in the glove box.)
3. Press the VOL knob to turn the radio OFF.
4. Press "LOAD" and insert DISC (P/N 68141133AA).

Radio Software Update

5. When the prompt "Update from 20.02.01 to 23.04.41" appears, press "YES". Radio will restart.

Progress bars will indicate the status of the software update. Upon completion of the software update, the radio will restart. After about 2 minutes, the radio will prompt for a series of additional updates. (This may take longer than 2 minutes and seem like the radio is frozen, just let it sit...)

Travel Link Database Update
6. When the prompt "Update baseline data files on HDD?" appears, press "YES".

Navigation Software Update
7. When the prompt "A new version of software is detected. Do you wish to update?" appears on the Navigation screen, press "YES".
a. When the prompt "PND Update Completed" appears, press "OK".
b. If the message "PND did not update!" appears, your Navigation software is already up to date. Press "OK".
Completion
8. When the prompt "Update application software from 23.04.41 to 23.04.41" appears, check the version numbers.
a. If the version numbers match (i.e. 23.04.41), press "NO". Radio will complete the update procedure and restart.
b. If the version numbers do not match, perform the Radio Software Update section again.
9. When the prompt "Update baseline data files on HDD?" appears, press "CANCEL" (bottom right corner of screen).
10. Press "LOAD" to remove the DISC and return the DISC to this protective envelope. Press "LOAD" again to close the screen.

Software Update is Complete
does this work for the 730N or just for 430?

The above update is for the 430N only.

730N (Harmon Becker brand) updates are have much more support but have the lame azz NAVTEQ Nav. The updates are VIN based and cost $200+ and those can be done from this site: http://mofv.com/mygig

+1 No Eco route after update, but really dig the new colored NAV button!

In this case the dealer should do for free since the radio was suppose to come with travellink from the beginning. The service writers where i bought my truck know very well of the issue since they were waiting months for the update.

What page in the manual do you see this "Eco Route" option?

Red face

Well this is embarrassing, I just realized after searching that I saw the Eco Route feature in my portable Garmin navigator manual and not the truck manual, I could of sworn that's where I saw it. the systems look identical. I wonder why the 430n Nav system doesn't have this feature. I least I was able to update my system with your help.
