Question Any Cheap, EASY mods?

What is the cheapest & easiest thing I can do to improve the engine performance of my HEMI?

Thanks!

Drop in air filter or CAI or Magnaflow would be my first choices, then Tuner

^ What he just said. Replace your stock muffler with a Magnaflow and replace the stock y pipe with a magnaflow y pipe. You can take your truck down to a muffler shop and they'll do it for you. Drop in filters are very, very easy. It take 1 minute! Cold air intakes can take 1-3 hours, but are relatively simple if you follow the directions. A Diablosport Predator would also be a great mod!

I chose those 3 mods early on my list.... My 1st of the 3 was Magnaflow 18" performance muffler, and then I quickly deleted the Resonator behind it... The muffler itself was a good mod for performance, but the sound was not quick as loud and I thought it would be... So i removed the resonator, and that actually helped the performance some, and made it sound even better...

My next mod was a K&N CAI. I went with the polished tube, and it helped a bit as well.. The truck had a bit more "snap" to the throttle. I liked it and as a bonus I get to hear the cool sucking noise from the massive air flow about 3k rpm... I Like it!!! haha...

I then got the Superchips 3865... In a word!!! Awesome!! Very adjustable... Either that or Diablosport would be a great choice!! Depending on how you want to use your tuner..

One thing I forgot to mention, if you want a really cheap mod, you could get a 180 T Stat. An engine that runs 20 degrees cooler is more effecient. You can pick one up at Autozone for less than $15. The main thing to keep in mind though...if you wanna add a lot of performance, you'll have to spend a lot of time and money!

Wow! Thanks for the tips everyone. I very much appreciate it! These are exactly the suggestions I was looking for. I'll start w/ the filter and muffler. I'm also very interested in more info. about the 180 T-Stat mentioned... Is there any downside or risk in installing it?

Thanks again!

No downsides for me! I've heard of some people getting codes, but I think that's because they have lots of mods, and the code is probably not from the 180 T Stat.

You have to be careful of those...the cheap filters can come apart and get sucked down into the engine. Also, the fit ain't so good and the tubes are very thin walled, transferring a lot of engine compartment heat into the intake air.

Really, ya get what ya pay for.
