Default Is this what I need and how will it perform?

I am looking to replace the stock muffler on my 03 Ram with the above and was wondering what people thought about it. What I'm looking for is something that flows more, sounds mellow at cruising speed, and almost obnoxious at WOT. At this point money is tight so I was planning on putting some turn downs on the exits until I can run new pipe. I am open to suggestions as to other options.

magnaflow makes good mufflers but is too quiet for my taste i like to hear my exhaust. i have a flowmaster 40 original series and i love it. i only paid $350 for the american thunder truck series. magnaflows are more expensive for there exhaust systems bcus they have more flow than flowmaster. but anytime you upgrade from stock muffler your going to get more flow. yes turn downs are good if you wanna go cheap and they are lil louder than using pipes. do some research on youtube for sound clips. good luck with the exhaust buddy!

I run a 5x11x22 mag...I reversed it so the single side is my exhaust..

it will perform fine. I have the same muffler except the can is 18" vs. the 22" you have. The 18" can has a nice tone in the mid-rpm range, fairly quiet on the freeway and obnoxious when you get on it.
