Mine hasn't done it yet. Looking down the barrel of 2000 miles now. IF I hear it I will floor this bitch and watch the chunks fly. then I will take it in and tell them they need to fix it, it won't go into gear and I can't figure it out. I think they will fix it then.

herc-

One of the final decisions by Chrysler to replace my torque converter, besides a lot of pissing and moaning by me, was that a Chrysler engineer drove 2 other trucks and he was able to replicate the noise in both trucks. He told my service manager that he was quite sure it was a defective torque converter and sent the dealer a new one for my truck.

I'm telling you this, as a different engineer, I suppose, told your dealer that this was "normal"?. You would think that the right hand would know what the left hand is doing!

Anyway, I can see this issue is a growing one and it's plain to see that there are many defective TC's out there.

Get Chrysler Customer Care involved and be persistent.

I have it, 2011 outdoorsman 3/11 build date. I started noticing it around 3000. Had it into the dealer for an oil change yesterday and we talked about it. Took the service manager for a ride and was the first he heard it in any of their trucks sold, although he thought they might have one other in with it. Small dealer though.

I have a great dealer they won't give me any problems fixing it. If I said to get in a TC they would have done it. We are both a little leery of tearing about the transmission until we are both sure my noise is the TC noise. Everything points that way.

He was going to look into it a bit since they were not up on the issue. I was going to drive it a bit more and see where it goes. Not really freaking me out since I have lots of warranty remaining. Maybe Chrysler will issue a TSB I had the star case document with me.

I haven't heard of any breaking out here right? Just annoying, might wait until after hunting season to deal with it.

Mine does it. New torque converter came in today and getting replaced tomorrow. I went to my dealer and explained what I was hearing and 30 minutes later the service writer came out and said they had one on order already and had the STAR case, shown in several other posts, stapled to my work order. Ram is definitely aware of the issue.

I think this is a great opportunity to test your dealer. My RAM was the first vehicle I purchased from a local dealer. When I brought up the TC issue, they said they never heard of it and the tech couldn't find anything when he researched it. I gave them the star case number and they looked both surprised and embarrassed. They couldn't give me the run around anymore. Fortunately their are many chrysler dealers in my area, so I might bring my business to another.

So is this covered under the 5/100,000 warranty ? ( I would think so.)

I've been hearing a similar noise in mine, 2011 ram with 5.7. I'll be talking to the dealer when I get home.

Absolutely. If you suspect your having this issue, take it to your dealer.
