Default melted tow wiring

hey,

i have a 2001 ram and am using it to tow a trailer from arizona to alaska...

anyway, i parked on a hill and it was raining pretty hard, and the 7 pole connector melted...

so i bought a new one, but there are 8 wires going into the melted connector.

i have looked for a wiring diagram online but cant seem to find one...

just to be clear the old 7 pole connector was made for the truck... and was plugged into a dodge connector... which is now melted... so im going to cut the connector off and need help figuring out where the wires go...

thanks

I'm sorry I don't have an answer for you, but I'd be more concerned about why the connector melted. Simply getting wet in the rain shouldn't do it.

hm, well i the wire that heated up and melted was the 12 volt power... i would assume that it was a little loose... so if i wire everything im pretty sure the problem will not recur...

ah, that was easier than i had first imagined... the extra wire was a second ground? i put both grounds together... i hope i dont end up regretting that...

i just used butt connectors... maybe when i get home and have my soldering iron ill solder the wires up better...
