You should stick with a filter that has the same specs as oem, mainly pay close attention to the filtration micron rating.

I use mobil 1 filters because I get them on sale with the oil, I honestly never checked the specs on them, but just assumed(stupid me) that being mobil 1 it is good. I've heard good things about wix/napa (I think napa is wix). I'd stay away from cheapo's like fram, they are not good quality. Again, the micron rating should be same as oem, that's the big thing, otherwise the filtration level is not what it should be.

I know the true Mopar folks here will cringe when they read this, but I will be using a Motorcraft FL-820s filter on my Ram.

I like the Motorcraft filter's design, it's easy to find at any WalMart, not expensive ($4), and the real bonus is that is the same sized filter used on my wife's 2006 Ford Escape V6.

Sure makes it easy to just buy the same oil and oil filter for both vehicles!

Oil filters, especially Mopar ones are a crap shoot. I use the Mobil 1 filters, they are made by champion labs, who also makes the K&N filters, delco filters, STP filters and others. Now back to the Mopar filters, I had 3 old ones for my 03 4.7 in the garage one I bought at walmart, two from the dealer. 1 was made by Honeywell(fram) 2 were made by champion.(they are the exact same part number but totally different filters). I don't know for sure but i would guess that the fram is the one from walmart

I'm using the K and N filter here - the welded nut on the end makes it very easy to remove, etc....

I also only use the K&N filter, I like the nut welded on the end and have noticed the oil is a bit cleaner at oil changes, which tells me it's doing a good job, PLUS my wife works at O O O Oreily's, so I get them at her cost..lol
